Top 7 Solutions for Lizard Control in Gardens

Because lizards are repellent to most people, they are not desirable in our gardens. Although they are quite beneficial, we are concerned about lizards because they will start munching plants. Thus, follow these top 7 solutions to get rid of lizards in your garden before they get indoors.

1. Cut off their food supply

Check around your house and yard to find out where large populations of insects are dwelling. This is where you will likely find the lizards. Spray these insect havens with a safe bug repellent available over the counter at your hardware store. Treat the area daily with the bug spray until the lizards leave.

2. Eliminate their habitat

Two ways to do this are by using an acoustic emitter on an ultra-high frequency, and by spraying their feeding areas with a solution of spicy sauce and water. The sound frequency is painful for them, and the spicy sauce is repellent to their taste buds. It can also painfully raise their blood pressure.

3. Catch them with cold water

Spray the lizards with very cold water. This will slow their heart rate and muscle response so you can catch them, put them in a truck and relocate them to a nearby wetland or roadside ditch.

4. Natural predators

If you are trying to get a lizard out of your home or from around your home without risking injury to the lizard, then it is best to put up your dogs, cats, etc. while you remove the lizard. While your beloved pets may mean well, they can easily kill or injure a lizard, and you certainly don’t want them eating one as some lizards may be toxic to your pets.

5. Peacock Feathers

For some reason, lizards are afraid of peacock feathers. Most people concur that this is due to the appearance of an “eye” on the top of the feather. Regardless of the reason, if it works for you, then it is a very easy and attractive way to keep lizards at bay. Peacock feathers are easy to order, and you can work them into your decor in a multitude of ways.

6. Onion slices

Place onion slices near crevices or areas where you spot the lizard often.

7. Camphor balls

Place camphor balls in your cupboard or around the house to prevent the lizards from straying into those areas in the first place.
